Meet The Team

These are the people that make up our Board of Directors. They provide their time, energy, and creativity to support our mission. It is because of their hard work that we are able to provide orthopedic education and healthcare locally and abroad.

Joseph Hsin 

Dr. Joseph Hsin is the founder of the Cornerstone Foundation. He is a partner at Cornerstone Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and practices sports medicine and general orthopedics. He is involved in numerous community activities including serving as a team physician for several local high schools, Colorado Christian University and the Denver Barbarians Rugby Club. He also serves in the physicians pool for US Ski and Snowboard Team and the USA Eagles Rugby Team. He speaks to local community gatherings on orthopedic topics and writes on the subject of sports medicine for local papers. He is a clinical instructor at Denver Health and Hospitals, and he also trains medical students and interns. He has obtained a Masters of Arts with an emphasis in Missions from Fuller Theological Seminary and has traveled to Southeast Asia on numerous occasions since 2000 with Cambodia Medical Missions in a continuing effort to improve medical care in Cambodia. He has also served as camp doctor at Young Life youth camps. Dr. Hsin, his wife and four children enjoy most all adventures Colorado has to offer.

Zane Blackmer

Zane was born and raised in Boulder, CO.  He attended the University of Colorado and graduated in 1985 with a BA in Classics.  As an entrepreneur, he's owned and operated several businesses primarily investing in, developing and operating real estate ventures.  His values are faith, family, friends, fun and real estate, in that order.  Faith fuels his interest in involvement with the Cornerstone Foundation to help others both locally and globally. In the early 1990's he worked as a medical sales rep for an orthopedic implant company and worked with hospitals, doctors and patients with their orthopedic needs. This foundation kept his interest to stay involved in helping the Cornerstone Foundation continue serving others with their medical needs. Zane enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons whenever he can and in as many outdoor activities as possible.

Brian Yost

Brian has resided Boulder County since 1979. He attended Niwot High School and then the University of Colorado, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and later a Master of Business Administration. Brian has worked at IBM since 1995, holding a variety of sales related roles.  He is a PMI Certified Project Manager and has also filed an IBM patent for a price benchmarking methodology. In his current role he is the Senior IT Operations Executive responsible for all the IBM provided IT services for a major beverage company headquartered in Denver, CO. Brian has volunteered in various capacities with Young Life since 1990, serving as a leader to high school and middle school students, being part of the adult committee supporting a local Young Life area, or cooking meals to feed college leaders.  He has been an active member of his church, Cornerstone Church of Boulder Valley, since 1989 and has been serving on the board of elders since 2001. He is excited to bring his financial background to assist Cornerstone Foundation with their mission to reach more people both locally and globally with better orthopedic care and promote wellness for local youth involved in sports. Brian, his wife and three children all enjoy the outdoors, especially hiking, climbing 14ers and skiing.

Kimberly Ocel

Kimberly grew up in the great lakes of Minnesota. She earned her B.A at the College of St. Scholastica and received her RN in 1991. She has worked in many areas of the nursing profession from SICU, pediatrics, dialysis and has spent the past 20 years in management for an Independent Physicians Association in Chicago, IL. She has lived in Colorado since 2005 where she has volunteered in multiple philanthropic groups assuming chair and co-chair positions, budgeting, procurement and event management.

Daniel Ocel

Dr. Daniel Ocel is a board-certified, Orthopedic Surgeon at Cornerstone Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and fellowship-trained in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery. He also practices in general orthopaedics and sports medicine. Prior to working at Cornerstone Orthopaedics, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Creighton University School of Medicine and was honored to receive a Health Professions Scholarship from the US Navy while in medical school. He continued his training in Chicago and then served our country for three years as Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at Naval Hospital Corpus Christi. When he is not performing a surgery or on a medical mission trip to with the Cornerstone Foundation, Dr. Ocel loves spending time with his wife and children, as well as golfing and playing soccer. 

 

Chelsey Towns

Chelsey is a native of Colorado.  She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated with a BA in Communications. She began her career in pharmaceutical sales, where she excelled at individually and in leadership roles, as a mentor and in management.  Chelsey wanted to broaden her experience and continue her passion for better health and is now a medical device sales professional. Her first medical mission with the foundation took her to Uganda.  Humbled by the people and by the experience, it lit the spark in her to do more with her abilities and the connections she has. She helped facilitate, fundraise and be part of the largest team of 17, the foundation was able to send and serve in Cambodia. Chelsey has volunteered within Colorado Community Church and The More Life Center. As an avid athlete most of her life, she was active in team sports and completed the Chicago marathon.  She teaches Pilates, loves the active lifestyle of Denver and enjoys travel. Chelsey is excited to bring her dedication for serving others to the Cornerstone Foundation.
